But what If You Can?!
That's where I come in

I'M HERE TO TELL YOU THAT YOU CAN

You sit down to write that LinkedIn post, website copy, or new bio for your upcoming talk. The cursor blinks back at you as you stare at the blank page. The cursor taunts you.
You type a bit. Take a sip of your coffee. Erase it all. And soon, find yourself browsing Facebook for the seventh time in five minutes. Words fail you.
All you think is:
-
I can’t write this.
-
I don’t have the words.
-
I don’t know where to start.
I’m here to tell you that you can. Because as painful as writing is, all you need is someone who believes in you and is ready to cheer you on. That someone is me.

Copy therapy is how you stand out
I know you can write. I believe you have what it takes to tame the page and bring all of you to your writing. This comes from a girl who regularly describes writing as dancing naked in front of a mirror as my belly fat jiggles disobediently.

I’m Nicole. I call myself a copy therapist because I live to help people unblock the emotional stuff that has them stuck. I don’t teach copywriting frameworks or best practices—there are tons of excellent teachers for this. I’m all about helping you conquer the blank page.
“Cool story, Nicole. But I don’t need this touchy-feely stuff. I have AI,” you might be thinking. Well, good luck with that. Not to hate AI, but it churns out content the same way McDonald's does.
The result is something you chug between meetings and to-do lists. It does the trick, but meh. And in a world drowning in junk food content, copy therapy is how you stand out.
It’s 2005. I’m a first-year student in an English literature class at a university in South Africa. Class has just finished for the day, and I’m heading for the door when my professor stops me.
“Nicole, can I have a word,” she says.
I think nothing of it. I think I’m a good student. I’m also a word connoisseur, so I figure all my bases are covered. Every time I read a new word I don’t know, I’d look it up in my Oxford English Dictionary and add it to a file.
Some people collect butterflies or stamps. I collect words.
Every essay I write is peppered with words from this file. The bigger the word, the better. It doesn’t matter that I can’t pronounce them and never actually use these words in a sentence.
Words like ‘floccinaucinihilipilification’, ‘purple passage’, and ‘pontificating’.
My lecturer looks concerned.
I know what this is about.
She wants to discuss the essay she handed back yesterday.
The essay with a big fat F scrawled at the top of it.
She gestures for me to take a seat on the other side of her desk.
“Nicole,” she says, “Is English your mother tongue?”
I’m speechless.
I think she’s confused me with another student. Maybe someone who speaks Afrikaans or Zulu at home. Or maybe those extra Afrikaans lessons I took in high school were finally paying off.
The truth never occurs to me.
It’s now twenty years later. I no longer collect words. I’ve learned to write like I speak. I even have clients who tell me things like, “You’re one of the best writers we’ve ever worked with.”
And yet, on days when I’m stuck or a client blows up Google Docs with their comments, my lecturer's words still haunt me: “Nicole,” she says, “Is English your mother tongue?”
It’s in those dark moments that I found my inner copy therapist. The calm voice to tell me to keep showing up. Without her, I wouldn’t be a writer. And that’s what I want to do for you.
